It’s difficult to understand why anyone would commit deliberate acts of cruelty towards animals, yet there are countless dogs that suffer from neglect and abuse at the hands of their owners. Unfortunately, a particular Labrador mix was subjected to an extremely dangerous situation when he was tied to a railroad track while trains were still passing by, with no chances of survival.
The blog recounted how Animal Care Officer Edwards was alerted to a situation where a dog was tied to an operational railway track and unable to escape. In quick time, Edwards rushed to the spot where he found the helpless canine, whom they affectionately christened as Lucky, lying on the tracks.
Officer Edwards approached and noticed that Lucky’s leash was tied to the train tracks with a nail, causing it to tighten as the dog tried to pull away. The poor pooch was frightened and hesitant to trust anyone. However, Edwards acted swiftly and utilized a humane catch pole to approach and secure Lucky. As a train could be heard approaching in the distance, Edwards knew he had to act quickly. He helped Lucky off the tracks and safely back to the animal transport vehicle just in time before a train passed by.
According to the post, it is more likely that someone intentionally trapped Lucky on the nail while walking past, rather than him getting stuck accidentally. Lucky was given some time to recover, but he didn’t have to wait long before a forever home was found for him. The City of San Antonio Animal Care Services received many inquiries from potential adopters, but eventually, Lucky found his perfect match with a man named Mr. C. Now, Lucky goes by the name Duke and seems to be settling into his new home quite well. The C Family has given Lucky the happy ending he deserves after his traumatic start to life.
