Mark, who preferred not to disclose his last name, was strolling down the streets of Sarajevo when he heard an unusual whimpering sound. He directed his attention towards a cardboard box that was concealed within the woods on the side of the road. Approaching the box, Mark discovered a cluster of puppies that were crouched together in the dirt, frantically crying out for assistance. Lisa, Mark’s partner, shared that the notion of abandoning them never crossed his mind. The couple had relinquished their employment and sold their property in 2019 to embark on a global voyage, and they happened to be residing in a leased apartment in Sarajevo when Mark noticed the plight of the puppies.
Mark and Lisa, also known as the Nomadic Canadians, breathed a sigh of relief when their rental host agreed to let them keep the four puppies they had rescued. However, it wasn’t easy taking care of the young pups in such a small space. The couple had to take turns sleeping as the puppies required attention every few hours. Despite the challenges, Lisa and Mark did their best to keep the puppies entertained and happy.
While they would have loved to take the puppies with them on their travels, Mark and Lisa knew that it wouldn’t be feasible. They were faced with the daunting task of finding the furry creatures a new home in a foreign country, which left them feeling unsure of their options.
Lisa expressed her overwhelming feelings about what to do next after discovering abandoned puppies. The following six days were a mix of emotions for the couple as they felt heartbroken, thankful, panicked, joyful, sleep-deprived, fearful, and stressed about finding a solution. Despite their fears, they remained hopeful and focused because they did not want to give up on the dogs, considering that they had lost their beloved dog, Kelso, three years ago. Lisa expressed her love for dogs, indicating how much joy and enrichment they add to life. Luckily, a family nearby noticed them strolling the puppies and offered to help find a place for them to stay.
Lisa expressed her belief that the whole situation was a result of destiny. The couple reached out to Save The Animals Now, which is a roomy shelter located nearby. Upon entering the shelter, Lisa felt comfortable knowing that the puppies would receive skilled and expert attention. She shared her relief by stating that they were in good hands, which even brought tears to their eyes.
After a few weeks, the couple was overjoyed to hear that all four of the puppies they rescued had found new homes. Now, these furry little friends that were once left stranded on the roadside will finally have a bright future ahead. The couple’s efforts have certainly paid off in giving these puppies another chance at a happy life.
